In 1973, I moved into a house in Berkeley that was occupied by persons
who had tried to start a rock band. There was a drum set in the
living room of 3005 Fulton Street, along with expensive instruments and
amplifiers. For whatever reasons unknown to me, the group never
materialized into a viable commercial musical presentation. Fortunately
for me, the songwriter, Jim Cory, showed me some of his songs and gave
me verbal permission to use his material at some future time. One of
his songs, "Heart Hardly Knows" is now a completed recording that I
produced in 2012, some 40 years after acquiring the permission to
record and release this work.
It is currently listed on
iTunes under the album "Highways of Life" featuring RT Pappas.
The album is still in production and will eventually have 10 songs.
I wrote the last half of the
last verse, played rhythm guitar and contracted for the musical
personnel who performed on this take. When royalties come in from this
song, I will create an account for monies to be set aside for JIm Cory
and his family or benefactors.
In addition, I am currently
producing an 11 song album of my own songs and that should be done
before Spring of 2013.
It's great learning this
business and I have started a family publishing company that hopefully,
my children and descendants will continue.
Great cello player on this
recording. He resides in San Luis Obispo.
