| My Closet is a Tangle of Regrets Fiona Fox Cromwell A warped Gibson guitar Elbows a battered SpeedRoller skate, Crushes a scuffed satin toe shoe, Wedged against three chapters of The Book That Explains Everything. A tiny tower of crumbling letters sigh "My darling, my dear one, my love." But the mice have shredded The book into a nest, Lined with pink toe shoe satin, At night some of them pile on the skate, Wheeling around While others pluck the guitar With their teeth. Then covering themselves with the letters, they murmur "My darling, my dear one, my love." Fiona Fox Cromwell 2002 © Used with Permission of the author. |
